Saturday city meet + Saturday team party
City championship meet :On Saturday, the city championship meet will be held at Kedron Aquatic Center (at 202 Fieldhouse Drive). This is a chance for our Wahoos to shine as they swim against all the 8 other teams in the league! The meet will be split into 2 sessions (10 and younger in the am, 11 and older in the pm), and it will be crowded! Your swimmer may swim THREE individual events at this meet, including the 100 IM which I explained in my last note. Coaches will choose relays. Please rsvp whether you are coming or not by 8am Wednesday. You can also sign up to volunteer -- remember that we request that each family volunteer TWICE during the season. This is what the meet schedule will be like on Saturday:
10 and younger:
6:40am - Wilshire swimmers 10 and younger arrive to Kedron Aquatic Center pool / check in with coaches
7 - 7:10am Wilshire warm ups
7:10 - 8:10am We hang out while other teams warm up
8:05am Event 1 and 2 to the bullpen
8:15am Meet starts for 10 and younger swimmers
Around 12:30pm meet finishes
11 and older:
Around 1pm Wilshire 11 and older swimmers arrive to pool / check in with coaches
Around 1:30pm warm ups then meet starts
Around 4pm meet finishes
*better estimates will be given later in the week by SCAT once all entries are received*
Please make sure that if you rsvp yes to the city meet, you are committed to arriving at the pool on time and staying at the meet for all 3 individual events and up to 2 relays. When a swimmer doesn't show up at a meet (especially this one), it is very stressful for the coaches and it is not thoughtful of the other swimmers on the missing swimmer's relays. There is no pressure to rsvp yes, but if you say yes then you need to be there on time and be there for all races!
Team party: The team party is for all Wahoo swimmers and their family members, and it is at the Wilshire pool. Every swimmer will receive a team award, and we will have some special awards as well. This is the final event for Wahoos, so no more morning practice or meets after this! Here is the schedule:
5 - 6pm Open swim if you'd like, lifeguard on duty
6-630pm Dinner served (pizza, salad, watermelon, cookies, water, lemonade)
6:30-7:15pm Program including awards
7:15-8pm Open swim if you'd like, NO lifeguard on duty
If you would like to help out with the team party, please let me know. Also, there is a lot of information coming at you this week, so please let me know if you have any questions!
Go Wahoos!!!!
Coach Susan
