Wahoos end of season wrap up

Hi Wahoo families,

Thank you for your patience as I work to get all these loose ends together...  and enjoy some time at the beach!

1.  Updated meet results: Attached are updated meet results (since the 11 and older 100 yd. IM had not been split up in the 1st set of results).  I have remaining awards at my house as well as the awards from this updated results sheet, and I will be home tonight, Saturday, or Sunday from 6-9 pm each evening if you want to stop by to pick up your swimmer's stuff any evening.  My address is 1600 Cascade Overlook.  If you're out of town, just reach out when you return.

2. Records - all in the 15-18 yr old boys age group: 3 individual records were broken at the city meet by Elliott Dale - 100 yd. free (53.32), 50 yd. fly (25.98), 50 yd. free (24.41).  Peyton Jones' record in the 50 yd. back (28.52) from earlier in the season stood strong.  Both relays were broken by the same group of 4 swimmers: Peyton Jones, Jonah Hendrickson, Elliott Dale, Harry Jaenke 2 in the 200 yd. free relay (1:39.44) and the 200 yd. medley relay (1:54.08).  Congratulations guys!!!

3. Next year: 2024 season of Wahoos (yes, I'm always looking ahead!) informational email will likely go out end of February with registration in March.  We will continue to give priority registration to all Wilshire residents as well as any returning Wahoo families (that's you!).  Then we open up registration to anyone else until we fill up the 110 spots.  The meet schedule gets set in Feb/March by the league, but my guess at the TENTATIVE schedule would be this: meets 4 Thursdays (May 30, June 6, June 13, June 20) with the city meet either June 22 or 29 (Kedron controls that!).  We do the 100 lap club the Friday after our 2nd home meet, whenever that is.  We have aways done our party the same day as the city meet, but we may have to move to the next day as the city meet ran so late this year.

4.  Suggestions for improvements? We are always looking at how we can improve things, so please let me know if you have any suggestions.  New families, veteran families, ... we all have a different perspective to offer, so email if you have ideas!

4.  PTC Youth Triathlon: This is a local event on July 15, 2023.  Many of our Wahoos have done this in the past, and it's a really cool event!  You will see kids who have trained for it/have the fancy bike, and kids who haven't trained/have streamers on their bikes, and everything in between! I have worked the event a number of years, and they take safety seriously (which was my concern when my own children competed in the event).  Here's the link: https://tri4gold.org/youth-triathlon

Thank you all for a wonderful season!

Go Wahoos!!!

Coach Susan
