1st practice is Monday!

Our 1st Wahoos practice is Monday! Wahooooooooo!

A few reminders....

1. Be prepared: Have your swimmer use the restroom before you leave the house (as we only have a few stalls). Your swimmer should be wearing a swim suit (team suit or any suit for practice), and bring with them a towel, goggles, and cap (if hair can reach the eyes or mouth). I also recommend you bring something warm to put over them after practice (robe, sweatshirt, blanket or 2nd towel), as it can be chilly especially for our younger swimmers when they get out if the sun isn't shining! Coaches can help with getting caps on before practice, if you need assistance.

2. Parking (or no parking): When you arrive at the pool, be super careful in the parking lot with so many young people coming and going. If you have to park on the street, only park on the pool side of the street to keep the other side of the street clear. Also, make sure your wheels are on the road because our sprinkler heads are in the grass and will break if you park on them! Golf carts can pull in closer than the lines in the golf cart area to make more space (this area is to the right as soon as you turn into the pool area). If you live close and can walk or bike (cross training :-)), that's helpful too! Handicapped spot is reserved for that use only (no exceptions).

3. T-shirts: Please pick up your t-shirts at the 1st practice you're at if you haven't yet - they will be laid out waiting for you to grab by family. If you won't be there this week, feel free to ask a neighbor or a friend to grab yours for you. I will have a few leftover t-shirts for sale next week, if you'd like additional t-shirts. I want to make sure everyone gets the ones they ordered first. Let me know ASAP (not while I'm coaching though) if the size doesn't seem right and we can try to exchange it.

4. Parents during practice: Parents are welcome to stay for all practices. We ask that you (and any siblings) stay back from the pool area and try not to interact with your swimmer during practice. A coach will flag you down if you're needed. It's helpful if the coaches have the space and the focus of the swimmers during practice time. If you need to speak to a coach, it's always best to wait for before or after practice times to talk to one of us, or email me. If your swimmer gets out of the pool to use the restroom, the coaches will need to remain focused on the other swimmers in the lane (so please be close by if your swimmer needs help in the restroom, especially with getting a wet suit off and on)

5. Lanes: We have arranged lanes based on experience and spreading out evenly, but know that this is fluid and swimmers will sometimes get moved to different lanes. We monitor for this daily. Please don't request that your swimmer move to a different lane to be with a certain friend -- encourage them to make new friends as it's a good life skill!

4. Weather: FYI If practice ever needs to be cancelled due to lightening, thunder, or heavy rain, we will send a message out. We do swim in light rain though. The safety of our swimmers and their families is most important!

5. Practice times: Just a reminder - please be on time for practice start and end.  If a swimmer needs to leave practice early (especially in the first group), just let the coach know.

  • 8 - 8:50 am ages 5 - 7 (plus some older swimmers)
  • 9 - 9:55 am ages 8 - 10
  • 10 - 11 am ages 11 - 18

Let me know if you have any questions.

Gooooooo Wahoos!

Coach Susan
