Thurs June 5 meet at HOME vs. the Pirates

Remember that we have a HOME meet at Wilshire pool Thursday, June 5, against the Pirates. We are excited for our 1st meet! Yes, we still have Thursday morning practice too.  Read through all this important information, and keep it handy for Thursday:

1) Parking: Parking is very limited. Please walk if you can, or golf cart, carpool, or park at a friend's house close by. The only parking that will be allowed at the pool or in the spaces on the street by the pool are for GOLF CARTS or handicapped parking. Please park all other vehicles in the Publix parking lot. If you'd like to drive through the pool area and drop off chairs, kids, bags, etc., you may do that. We will have a volunteer helping people cross Holly Grove Rd. safely - please be careful!

2) Schedule:

4:15 pm Arrive at Wilshire pool + check in with coaches

4:30 - 4:40 pm 10 and younger Wahoo warm ups

4:40 - 4:55 pm 11 and older Wahoo warm ups

4:55 - 5:20 pm Visiting team warms up

5:30 pm Meet starts

3) Concessions: Please bring CASH (small bills appreciated!) for our concession stand, or you may VENMO. We'll have pizza, Publix subs, and hot dogs, as well as drinks, candy, fruit, and ice pops. Please take the night off from cooking dinner and support our concession stand! A huge THANK YOU to Jenny Hinton for spearheading concessions!

4) Logistics: Your swimmer needs to come to the meet wearing a suit, and with goggles, cap (if using one), and a towel. I recommend sunscreen! Leave toys like water guns, balls, frisbees, etc. at home please. Feel free to bring chairs and blankets to sit on. We cram everyone onto our deck, so it will be a tight squeeze, but we think it is safest to keep especially our younger swimmers inside the fence due the cars on Holly Grove Rd. Wahoo families sit together in 1 section of the pool, and Whitewater sits on the other side - we'll show you where. There is some shade, but also some sun. We plan to run our meet as quickly as possible, so it is important that your swimmer listen for event numbers and get to the bull pen when called -- with goggles but without shoes/candy. NO PARENTS may be in the bull pen or in the starting and finishing area unless you're volunteering -- wish your swimmers good luck BEFORE they get to the bull pen! The coaches and bull pen workers will get help get your swimmer to their race from the bull pen.

We hopefully will finish the meet by 8:30 pm. All 10 and younger swimmers should have their name and age written in Sharpie on their left shoulder/arm area. I also recommend that you have your swimmer's Event #'s written on their arm or leg (some people like to write more - heat, lane, race, etc. but sometimes that confuses swimmers!) We will talk about this at practice on Thursday morning too. I recommend all swimmers use the restroom right before you leave home. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who signed up to volunteer!!! We only have 2 remaining jobs to fill, if you're able to help out.

What races will your swimmer be in? Once entries are completed by both teams (likely Wed), your swimmer's races will show up in the app. I'll also email you a heat sheet of the entire meet. You can print it if you'd like (but you may not borrow heat sheets from the coaches and bull pen workers, as we need them at all times).

Send me any questions. I know it's a lot if you're new, but trust the process - swim meets are so much fun!!  We look forward to seeing your swimmers race!

Go Wahoos!

Coach Susan
