Kedron Aquatic Center
Wahoo families,
In case you hadn't heard... the swimming community is facing an important crossroads with the Kedron Aquatic Center. The information I have reflects from what I have read / heard from a variety of sources, so I will share what I understand is the plan for the Kedron pool. There is an article in The Citizen about this and there is a Facebook page KeepKedronOpen.com, so you can keep updated.
From what I understand, the Kedron pool is currently slated to close for repairs for approximately 12+ months beginning around October of 2026. The bubble structure will be permanently removed and there is no approved plan for what will happen next. The city council is expected to discuss the project on May 7, with a final decision anticipated on May 21. The May 7 meeting is a critical opportunity for the community to be heard before any decisions are made, giving Council time to consider feedback ahead of the vote.
This pool closure will affect club swimmers, high school swimmers, swimming lessons, Pirates summer league team, and those who use the pool for exercise and pleasure. This is the city's primary aquatic facility, and there is no local alternative pool to support all of our swimming community for around a year! As a former collegiate swimmer, a coach, a parent of former swimmers, I am upset to think of the people who rely on the Kedron pool and the consequences of this year-long closure for our swimming community.
If you are interested in getting involved, this is how you can help:

2. Attend and speak at meetings = PTC City Hall - 151 Willowbend Rd. on May 7 (Plan Proposal) at 6:30 pm and May 21 (Council Vote) at 6:30 pm.
3. Join the Facebook page KeepKedronOpen.com - share and invite friends. If you are interested in buying a t-shirt or yard sign for $10 please email [email protected].
The more our community speaks up, the more likely we are to see thoughtful solutions to support our swimmers!
