100 lap club + next week
Way to go, 100 Lap Club participants! I love seeing all the smiles and looks of exhaustion (and I'm not just talking about the parents!). I also enjoy hearing the goal setting (i.e. more laps than last year, faster than last year, etc) and the encouragement from teammates. We CAN do hard things! I'm always especially amazed at some of our youngest swimmers who struggled to make a length of the pool a few weeks ago, but somehow find the determination to complete 100 laps! Well done! Wahooooo!
Next week, we have an AWAY meet at Whitewater. I will send you information, including start times, as I receive it. I have been told that the meet will have an option to swim the 100 IM as an "exhibition" at the end of the meet.
Exhibition = an extra race (so it doesn't count as 1 of your 2 individual races), no ribbons, and no team points. So you're basically doing it just for the time.
100 yd. IM = one swimmer does one length of all 4 strokes as a race in this order: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle. You MUST be able to swim all 4 strokes legally to be entered in this race. Coach Susan will be monitoring this during entries. We will do more practice on this 100 IM event on Monday/Tuesday if you want to wait to decide.
RSVP is open, and jobs are open - all due on Tuesday, June 16, at 10 am. Whitewater has an 8 lane pool, so we will needs LOTS of timers! It means the meet will run fast though, which is nice. Since it's an AWAY meet, we don't need as many volunteers as we do at a home meet. Remember that we need each family to volunteer 2 shifts per season.
Go Wahoos! See you Monday morning!
Coach Susan
